World Ocean Summit 2021
World Ocean Summit convenes more than 360+ global leaders from government, industry, multilateral organizations, the scientific community, and civil society.
The World Ocean Initiation aims at not only debating and discussing the world ocean problems but also progressing and solving them. Previous conferences explored some of the ocean's most intractable issues, for example, how to improve governance of the ocean, the role of industry and what a “blue economy” might look like, how to finance the transition to a sustainable ocean economy, and so on. World Ocean Summit 2020 will focus on discovering new ways of restoring world ocean health in response to the continuous ocean degradation process. Restoring ocean health opens unlimited opportunities for economic development, creating jobs, and accelerating the economic growth of nations around the globe. The conference gathers political leaders and policymakers, heads of global business, investors, scientists, and researchers that will discuss the latest scientific discoveries and their bright ideas on how to mitigate the threats the ocean faces nowadays and transform the ocean into an important source of economic growth. The top experts in their industries including Junichiro Ikeda, Tak Niinami, Emma Navarro, Naoko Ishii, Masaaki Nagamura, Peter Thomson, P S Srinivas, Mitsuru Izumo, Zanny Minton Beddoes, and many others will talk about the major challenges in building a sustainable ocean economy and the innovative ways of overcoming these obstacles. Except for traditional plenary sessions, the program of the conference includes interactive workshops and small group discussions that will draw on the experience of the attendees.
