Take part in a unique opera tradition in Italy: experience performance at the Arena di Verona Festival. For over a hundred years every summer the Roman amphitheater is transformed into the world’s largest open-air opera theater. The festival takes place every year since its establishment in 1936 in one of the oldest and the most romantic cities in the world, Verona and attracts more 400 000 visitors every year. The program of the festival consists of 125 shows including operas, ballets, and concerts. This spectacular event is unique in terms of its scale, involving more than 1200 staff members, 4500 costumers and 325 hours of make-up for each season. Performances traditionally begin at sundown, and the audience lights up the night with small candles when the show begins. This creates an incredible atmosphere that you will not be able to experience in any other place in the world.
